The Fund Marie-Thérèse De Lava and the Fund Robert Schneider

The Fund Marie-Thérèse De Lava and the Fund Robert Schneider wish to foster research in geriatric medicine, which plays an increasing role in health care.
Both Funds are launching a joint call to encourage high level researchers to develop their career by combining scientific research in geriatrics with clinical practice.

Deadline for application4th October 2021

Applicants

  • Assistant doctors (committed to a PhD program), after at least one year training as geriatrician and doctors within the 8 years after promotion (with an additional year per childbirth or adoption) as geriatrician who can convincingly show they envisage pursuing a career in geriatrics, either for a PhD or to continue research after a PhD.
  • They must be linked to a clinical position as geriatrician at a university hospital in Belgium. The hospitals and universities are expected to provide co-funding in the form of infrastructure facilities.

Grant
A financial support of maximum € 140.000 will be given to one applicant covering a period of 3 years.
An independent jury of experts will fix the amount based on a detailed and realistic budget.

The support may be used to cover the costs of salary of the candidate to be released part time from clinical duties to undertake research, to increase the research team, a part of the support may cover travel for education purpose or the cost of equipment.
