Survey: Management of Sepsis and Septic Shock in Older Adults outside Intensive Care Units
EuGMS SIG on Vaccines and Infectious Disease - Survey

Dear Colleagues,
We would like to invite you to participate in a short international survey on the “Management of Sepsis and Septic Shock in Older Adults outside Intensive Care Units.”
Sepsis is significantly more frequent and more severe in older adults, yet many of these patients are managed outside ICU settings. Clinical practices, decision-making processes, and access to resources in this context remain poorly described.
This survey aims to explore current practices, ethical considerations, and organizational aspects of sepsis management in older adults cared for in non-ICU hospital settings.
The questionnaire takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete and responses are fully anonymous.

Deadline: 30th June 2026
Your participation would be extremely valuable in helping us better understand current practices and identify potential gaps in care.
Please feel free to share this survey with colleagues involved in the care of older patients (geriatricians, internists, infectious disease specialists, emergency physicians).
Results will be presented at the European Geriatric Medicine Society (EuGMS) Congress and submitted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
Thank you very much for your time and contribution.
Best regards,
Dr Timothée Bichet
