SIOG International Society of Geriatric Oncology, advanced course

The SIOG Advanced Course in Geriatric Oncology is designed for professionals who want to stay at the peak of their expertise. The course is a CME accredited training programme led by international experts in the field of geriatrics and oncology designed to provide specific skills in assessment, care pathways and therapeutic choices for older patients with cancer. This advanced course covers the general principles of cancer treatment using case-based discussions in geriatrics for clinical oncologists as well as in clinical oncology for geriatricians.
Course Dates
Phase 1: A 3 day- course in Treviso, Italy (June 17-19, 2026)
Phase 2 (optional): Treviso Alumni Breakfast Meet & Greet (alumni testimony, poster walk, and networking) at the SIOG Annual Conference 2026 in Valencia, Spain (November 5 – November 7, 2026)
Educational Objectives
Master aspects of cancer medicine for geriatricians
Access insights and applications of geriatric principles to clinical oncology
Gain a solid understanding of collaboration models between medical oncologists and geriatricians
Programme
A common module addressed to clinical oncologists and geriatricians
Two separate modules each for clinical oncologists and geriatricians
Common case presentations and discussions
Case selections and their presentations by the course faculty
Subdivision of the participants in groups for internal anaylsis of cases for presentations of conclusions and general discussion
The faculty remains present and available for individual discussions and guidance as well as for general supervision for the development of multidisciplinary treatment teams in each participant’s institution within one year of completion of the course. It also performs an assessment of the level of activity of the teams within 5 years after the end of the course.
