Dr. Chukwuma Okoye

Dr Chukwuma Okoye is a geriatrician and Assistant Professor at University of Milano-Bicocca (Italy). He holds a PhD and the title of Doctor Europaeus in Cardiopulmonary Pathophysiology. His clinical and academic work focuses on frailty in acute care, cardiogeriatrics, multimorbidity, and clinical decision-making in complex older adults. Dr Okoye has a coordinating role in major research programmes on ageing, integrated care, and digital innovation. He is coordinating investigator of OPTIMAge-IT, a multicentre study evaluating technology-supported multicomponent interventions to prevent functional and cognitive decline in hospitalized older adults. He is also coordinating investigator of ECO-AGE, a multicentre observational study investigating the integration of bedside ultrasound and comprehensive geriatric assessment in hospitalized older patients with acute respiratory failure.
He is an active member of the GENIUS (GEriatric Network for International clinical UltraSound) network within the EuGMS, promoting education, research, and implementation of point-of-care ultrasound in geriatric medicine across Europe.
