EuGMS SIG on Palliative Care: Survey on symptom treatment during the last days of life

Dear colleagues,

The Palliative Care Special Interest Group of the European Geriatric Medicine Society (EuGMS) is pleased to invite you to participate in the online survey: “Exploring symptom relief in the last days of life: an online survey of pharmacological practices among geriatricians”.

As treatment of symptoms in the last days of life differs across Europe, this initiative aims to map current practices. Focusing on treatment of symptoms such as pain, dyspnea, anxiety, and terminal delirium during the last days of life in patients admitted to acute geriatric wards. The findings will help us better understand current treatment approaches and support the development of recommendations to promote best clinical practice.

The survey consists of 5 short case scenarios and takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete and is accessible at the following link: https://ugent.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_2t5a6dmIDpHbwkS

All responses will remain strictly anonymous and will be stored on a secure server, accessible only to the research team. Data will be analyzed in aggregated form and used solely for academic purposes.

The survey will remain open for until June 1st 2026. We would be most grateful if you could complete it at your earliest convenience.
