EuGMS SIG on COMPREHENSIVE GERIATRIC ASSESSMENT

Dear EuGMS colleagues, dear SIG-CGA members,
The EuGMS Special Interest Group on Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment will hold an online meeting on Tuesday, 17 March 2026. This meeting follows a long hiatus and will therefore focus primarily on organizational items and planning the next steps for 2026.

The meeting will be chaired by Lone Winther Lietzen (Chair), Carlo Custodero (Co-Chair), Filippo Maria Verri (Secretary). We warmly invite all colleagues interested in CGA to join, with a particular encouragement to members who are officially part of the SIG-CGA.

During the meeting we will provide a short status update and, importantly, launch new working groups for 2026, including a 10-year update on CGA implementation barriers and facilitators (the "know-do gap" update) and dimension-focused CGA working groups.

  • Short update on the SIG-CGA webpage refresh and communication materials, including the new SIG graphics
  • Overview of current administrative status and planned updates

  • Launch Working Groups B1-B8: one working group per CGA dimension
  • How to participate: expected outputs, timelines and next steps (expression of interest and nomination of leads)
  • Cross-SIG activities
  • Update on the current collaboration requests and identify possible SIG-CGA liaison(s)
  • Discuss future collaboration opportunities, including potential synergy with other SIG to modernize CGA delivery and promote CGA implementation
  • Preview: SIG-CGA Workshop (EuGMS 2026, Lille)
  • Preview of the planned EuGMS 2026 workshop on CGA teaching/implementation: "CGA refresher: closing the know-do gap and practical implementation strategies across European settings"
  • Brief update on the proposed interactive format and learning objectives, and how members can contribute
  • Invite expressions of interest from members (as tutors/facilitators or contributors to materials)
  • Next meeting and closing
  • Confirm next official SIG-CGA meeting onsite during the EuGMS 2026 Congress in Lille
  • Confirm immediate post-meeting actions (working group calls, communication plan, timelines)
